These locks will unlock without power, so if battery back up or main power fails facility will be unlocked. Additionally, fail safe locks like magnetics block the AHJ - Fire department in event of emergency typically. Also, fail safe locks are required to be tied into the fire alarm system, fail safe locks have to be permitted by the AHJ and require two means of FAIL REX EXIT means >> fail safe locks make the configuration a more complex.Â
