Professional Alarm Monitoring and Emergency Response
Professional monitoring connects a compatible alarm system to a central station that receives signals and follows the account’s written response instructions. The right plan depends on the property, control panel, communicator, event reporting and app features—not simply the lowest monthly price.

Equipment, installation, communicator upgrades, permits, inspections and service visits are separate unless included in a written proposal. First and last month’s monitoring may be collected at activation.
No multi-year monitoring contract
Avenger Security does not require a multi-year monitoring agreement. Service uses a 90-day cancellation notice. Review the proposal for the activation date, included features, response instructions and any equipment charges.
What happens when the central station receives a signal
- The alarm panel sends an event through its available communication path.
- The central station identifies the account, event type and programmed zone information.
- The operator follows the account’s verification and call-list instructions.
- Emergency services may be requested when the event and instructions call for dispatch.
- The account history records the received event and operator actions.
Monitoring cannot guarantee that every signal will be transmitted, verified or dispatched, or that an authority will respond within a particular time. Communication availability, equipment condition, user actions, permit status, verification procedures and agency policy all affect the outcome.
Basic monitoring and interactive service are different
Basic monitoring focuses on receiving alarm signals and following the response plan. Interactive Alarm.com service can add remote arm/disarm, notifications, user management, event history and compatible automation features.
Available features depend on the panel, communicator, service package and connected devices. App access is not automatically included with every monitoring plan.
Can an existing alarm system be reused?
Many professionally installed panels, keypads, sensors and sirens can remain in service. A takeover evaluation checks:
- the control-panel model and installer access;
- communicator technology and cellular compatibility;
- zone operation and labeling;
- battery and power condition;
- sensor, siren and keypad operation;
- signal reporting to the central station;
- emergency contacts, passcodes and response instructions.
Proprietary, damaged or obsolete equipment may need replacement. An older communicator may need upgrading even when the panel and sensors remain usable.

Alarm permits and response information
Some municipalities require an alarm permit. The property owner or responsible party should verify the responding jurisdiction, obtain and renew the permit, and provide the permit number to the monitoring company.
Keep the emergency call list, verbal passcode and special instructions current. Notify Avenger Security when contacts, tenants, ownership or access procedures change.
Starting service
New-service consultation: New clients considering new services receive an on-site visit and up to one hour of consultation at no cost. Troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs and other technical service on existing systems are billed at standard service rates; when applicable, the standard on-site service visit is $195.
