Cloud retention should be selected according to the customer's operating needs, incident-discovery timeline, insurance requirements, and internal policy. Longer retention is useful only when the recorded views and image quality are suitable for the intended investigation.
Remote Viewing and User Management
Owners and authorized managers can view live and recorded video through compatible applications or browsers. Access should be assigned by role so employees see only the cameras and functions required for their job.
Shared administrator accounts should be avoided. Individual users, strong authentication, prompt removal of former employees, and periodic permission reviews improve accountability.
Video Integration With Access Control and Alarms
Video can help explain a forced-door alarm, verify who presented a credential, or review what occurred before and after a burglar-alarm event. Integration should connect meaningful events without overwhelming managers with unnecessary notifications.
Door-prop, forced-entry, analytic, and alarm events should be tested using the customer's actual response procedure.
Human-Reviewed Video Monitoring

Human review can reduce unnecessary dispatches and provide more useful information than an unverified motion alert.

A professional installation includes secure mounting, suitable cabling, weather protection, surge considerations, network coordination, focus and exposure adjustment, naming, user setup, retention confirmation, and final testing.
Camera views should be reviewed periodically. Vegetation grows, lighting changes, buildings are modified, and cameras can be bumped or obstructed. Health alerts and routine service help ensure video is available when it is needed.
