Five-Year Security Installation Workmanship Warranty: What It Means
Avenger Security offers a five-year workmanship warranty on qualifying new security-system installations. A workmanship warranty addresses the quality of the installation labor; it is not automatically the same as a manufacturer equipment warranty or an unlimited maintenance plan.
The signed proposal and written warranty terms control the coverage for a specific project. Customers should review those documents before installation so the covered work, start date, service process, and any limitations are clear.
What workmanship means
Workmanship generally refers to how the contracted installation was performed. Depending on the written scope, that can include items such as cable termination, device mounting, connections, labeling, or other labor completed by the installer.
An equipment failure can have a different warranty source. Panels, communicators, readers, cameras, power supplies, batteries, and other devices may carry manufacturer coverage with their own term and replacement procedure. The proposal should distinguish equipment coverage from installation workmanship.
Questions to ask before installation
- Which parts of the project qualify for the five-year workmanship warranty?
- When does the warranty period begin?
- Does coverage include diagnostic labor, replacement labor, travel, or only correction of covered workmanship?
- How are manufacturer equipment claims handled?
- Are batteries, customer-supplied equipment, reused wiring, or existing devices covered?
- What documentation is required when requesting service?
- Do changes made by another contractor affect coverage?
These questions do not replace the written warranty. They help ensure the customer and installer interpret the scope the same way.
What may require separate service
Problems can occur even when installation workmanship is sound. Examples include normal battery depletion, manufacturer device failure, lightning or surge damage, water intrusion, construction damage, network changes, internet outages, cellular-service changes, customer programming changes, or equipment altered by another party.
Whether any particular condition is covered depends on the signed proposal and written warranty. If it is outside warranty coverage, Avenger Security can identify the required service and provide the applicable price before additional work proceeds.
Existing and customer-supplied systems
A takeover or reprogramming project often includes equipment, wiring, and prior work that Avenger Security did not originally install. Those existing components should be tested and documented, but they should not be assumed to receive the same coverage as a qualifying new installation.
New-service consultation: New clients considering new services receive an on-site visit and up to one hour of consultation at no cost. Troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs and other technical service on existing systems are billed at standard service rates; when applicable, the standard on-site service visit is $195.
Documenting a new installation
- Keep the signed proposal and final equipment list.
- Record panel, communicator, and major device model numbers.
- Keep permit, inspection, and acceptance records when applicable.
- Save user, administrator, monitoring, and service contact information.
- Report a suspected installation problem promptly instead of allowing damage to worsen.
Clear warranty expectations
A useful warranty is specific enough to explain who performs the work, what is covered, and what happens when service is requested. Avenger Security's five-year workmanship warranty is intended for qualifying new installations; exact coverage always follows the written project documents.
